Turning pro at 19, Ben Smith, from High Wycombe, is one of boxing’s most promising young fighters.
Here at HighWay, we’re always on the lookout for remarkable talent to showcase; Ben provided us with the ideal opportunity to tell his story.
We spent a week following Ben, with our Canon cameras, as he prepared for his second professional fight against Dan Carr, his toughest challenge yet.
We turned our footage into a rare fly-on-the-wall documentary, which gives a perspective of an athlete’s quest for greatness.
From watching, you’ll not only learn about Ben, but you will also uncover the mental and physical preparation it takes to succeed in this thrilling sport.

In the video, you witness Ben at Tibbs Gym with stablemate and WBO middleweight champion, Billy Joe Saunders.
Saunders and Ben are are both signed to the renowned boxing promoter Frank Warren.
Billy Joe Saunders gave us his views on Ben as a boxer, saying
” He reminds me a little of myself, he’s a very smart fighter”.
“To be World Champion is a must, I have to get there.”
Reviewing our time with Ben, it’s clear he has the mind of a winner and the heart of a champion.
It’s still early days for the boxer, however in this short documentary, Ben demonstrates his commitment and determination.
If you mix that with his incredible speed and boxing ability, we feel it’s safe to say that the youngster is destined to reach the top in this tough sport.
Winning the National ABC title back in 2012, a humble Ben is already following the footsteps of some of the Britain’s greatest fighters, including; Joe Calzaghe and Ricky Hatton.
